I see these sort of threads pop up from time to time and don't ever read them anymore because the responses are all the same (some defensive, some pointing fingers at suburbs, some attaching right back). After seeing yet another one of these threads balloon at an alarming rate, I have only one question:
Who really cares if someone thinks an area has an attitude? The fact is the DFW region is a good place to live, has a good local economy and is continuing to grow. If someone doesn't like it or thinks we have attitude... so what. I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Driving in Miami is akin to playing Russian Roulette. I'm sure you have heard the joke about the woman who called her elderly husband to tell him she heard reports of a wrong way driver out on the highway in S. Florida. His response, "ONE! Hell there are thousands of them going the wrong way and they are all coming at me".

I can't believe that the speed limit on most of the DNT is actually 55 mph. I've never even seen someone drive that slow and I highly doubt the state troopers will pull you over unless you're going 80+ or unless you're driving unsafe by going 55 in the left lane.

BRAHAHAHAHA!!!! Don't get out much do ya. Please, there are a TON of people here in the Dallas metroplex from NYC that have NEVER driven or had a car till they moved here. Your actually going to say that a single New Yorker that has never owned a car has never moved to Dallas? LOL!!!! HYSTERICAL!!! Just read a current census and you will easily find that a good number of the people that reside in Dallas, Collin & Denton Counties were NOT born here. And as someone that drives on the roads in the Dallas area daily........ TONS of out of state tags, drivers that are a sure bet they were not born in the U.S. and came from a country were there were no driving laws and everything in between. LOL!!!! Your too funny.

I usually avoid them to and only read them for pure entertainment value as they do get pretty comical. The stereotypes are the best. Especially when you get someone so pretentious as to think that they are so much better than us and they live in a small city/town that is far from being considered "modern" or "hip" or anything besides "small town minded" like New Braunfels. LOL!!!!

I think the speed limit on there is around 60 and might be 65 in some spots. I was just on it a million times the last two days and honestly could not tell you what is posted. I just drive w/ the flow of traffic and only get in the far left lane to pass slower moving vehicles or to keep up w/ that Aston I wanted to get a better glimpse of (love those cars). It just amazes me that people would get on there and think they could go 55mph and NOT get run over. My mother is one of them and I cringe everytime I hear that my MIL will be traveling on 190 or DNT. YIKES!!!! They both need flashing lights on top of their cars to warn the other drivers.

I know for a fact it's 55 MPH the entire time you're in Dallas County except near toll plazas, where it's lower. I don't know what it is in Collin.

I am from Illinois, and you are right. The few times I've driven through Dallas, I was driving the speed limit or 5 to 10 over. So not over 65. And it was terrifying. So...I guess ignoring the speed limit is a good thing? okay, sure.
I am sure a handful of New Yorkers have moved to Dallas. Your point is still unsubstantiated. Your argument makes no sense.
RE: newbie. I agree with you, I am sure there are nice people in Dallas and its not a horrible place and to people who call it home, its home.
My comments were just that of an observer with unbiased eyes. My initial comments should be taken as that....just observations from a traveller.
However, I did not go to Montana and meet someone that sounded like they were from Dallas and make sweeping claims about entire cities I could not back up, then make up factual reasons of how all bad drivers are from another place...

North Texas has no speed limits! Those signs are for shooting targets! We don't actually read them.

But you do come thru here and make sweeping generalizations about everyone here......... lol You also seem to have very biased "eyes" as well. Otherwise, one would not be so quick as to jump to conclusions that everyone here is "rude" or they are all natives to the area (which are very few and far between ).
Your "observations" are sweeping generalizations with no substantial proof. I can prove mine w/ a simple glimpse at a recent census.
The bolded part of your comment is HYSTERICAL!!!!! Please stop......... I'm laughing too hard and won't be able to talk seriously the rest of the day...... ROTFL!!!! Only a "handful" of New Yorkers have moved to Dallas......... LOL!!!! Oh my........ that is just TOOOOOO funny. Seriously, it is. Dang, to think of it....... there are a "handful" of New Yorkers living in MY neighborhood. I guess every New Yorker that decided to move to Dallas just happened to pick my neighborhood. LOL!!! Gosh, my sides are hurting.

my opinions and observations were just that...I have not made any claims of a factual nature, and most people understand that is what it is and don't get defensive and weird and start making claims as if they are based on fact, which you have.
Where is your proof that so many New Yorkers have moved to Dallas? This is a migration I have never heard of.

Oh my, really, you have NEVER heard of New Yorkers moving to Dallas....... that is funny. Seriously, you have got to stop or I'm not going to be able to make a straight face for the rest of the day. My sides hurt so bad from laughing......... LOL!!!
Not an official count but golly, I've got two brand new neigbhors that both are from New York. Throw in the others that have been here for a little longer and it is closer to about a dozen households in my neighborhood alone and all of them from New York. All of these in a neighborhood of only 117 houses.
Then of course there is the "official" census and these are from the 2005-2007 and it has grown since then.
For Dallas County on "foreign born" residents: 561,698
Collin County: 114,990
Denton County: 76,497
Then this little snippet in the news a few months ago:
The figures, to be released today, show that the Dallas-Fort Worth area added 146,532 people in 2007-08
Census: D-FW adds more residents than any other U.S. metro area | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Texas Regional News
I'm gonna guess you believe that out of all of those 145 THOUSAND plus people not many of them were from New York?????? LOL!!! Heck, even on this board there are more than a handful of people that post that moved here from New York. Really, seriously, you have NEVER heard of people moving to Dallas from NY????
