Of course we all know people from other places. I'm from Chicago and I live in New Braunfels. That isn't a a big deal when offset by 7 million other people (or whatever).
I think there is even more than that if you count all the suburbs of Dallas.

I guess I could come up with some census data, but I would have no clue where to look for the trends in where people are moving from. How come you can't just accept what people on here (who actually live in Dallas unlike you) say about the issue. Yes, there is a bunch of people living here that are from New York and more coming everyday.

Born in a beautiful island called Puerto Rico!!
I have lived in Iowa, Austria, Tulsa, Miami and Dallas.

Although I love my island, I consider Dallas my second home and I am very proud of being part of both cultures. Dallas rocks!!

Born in Dallas (Highland Hills neighborhood), moved to Lancaster in the late 1980s, then DeSoto in 1990.
I grew up in DeSoto and moved back to Lancaster in 2006.

This is so scientific!
No, I said that there are hundreds of thousands of people from ALL OVER that have moved here. Talk about putting words in someones mouth. I simply said that there are so many people here in the Dallas area from so many different places that have converged here and all with different levels of driving experience and styles. Your the one that picked "New York" to concentrate on.

I'm a geographer, I'm not unaware of demographic trends. Which is why this idea that New Yorkers are somehow over represented in dallas (and bad drivers) as mentioned in another thread, not by you, nor did I accuse you of saying so, is off the wall to me.

Places change over time. But New Yorkers make up a small percentage of Dallas's population based on everything I have read and observed.
I'm not upset with you. I just find it kind of sad that someone can not understand that those of us with firsthand experience and do see the trends and the census reports KNOW that in fact there are millions of people HERE in Dallas that are from somewhere else including NY.

I have not put any words in your mouth. As a matter of fact this post has your postings and you can see where you have said the things we keep saying you did and yet you deny. You have said that only a "handful" of people MIGHT have moved to Dallas from New York. We have continued to point to MANY companies that relocated here and brought hundreds and thousands of employees with them: American Airlines, JCPenney, etc. We live HERE IN Dallas and see and hear the news, meet these people as neighbors, at school, in church, etc. We KNOW that most of our neighbors came here from somewhere else. How come that is so hard for you to understand??????

If you were aware of demographic trends you would know that the Dallas Metroplex has a HUGE growth of people from areas outside of the state and country.

We have posted census data that shows a large population of the people here as "foreign born" and there IS data showing that there is a huge percentage of the population living here that were not born in Texas. Anyone caN look up the census data and see what it says. If you still don't want to believe it............ whatever. Just keep making sweeping claims that you know so much about this area and looking foolish......

So your saying that 6,999,999 people that live here are natives while your just about the only transplant????? LOL!!! It is more likely that the majority of those other 7 million people are ALSO transplants. geeeesh..............

Hey, don't knock yourself out looking for the census records as some people don't seem to realize that they are "fact" and DO show a huge percentage of the population and growth as transplants.

I'm freaking out now over how all of these women around here are multiplying like friggin rabbits. If some of the counties and communities in this area are seeing growth at 10-60% year after year.......... that is a lot of friggin babies being born. We really DO need to get into the business of doing something geared towards all of these babies. Maybe they account for all of the bad drivers. Who else would be driving all of the additional cars that get added to the roads around here consistently at high rates if people are not moving here from other states and countries......

Well, everyone have a GREAT and WONDERFUL, TERRIFIC weekend. If you go out make sure to stay hydrated and use sunscreen It's gonna be a hot one. Summer is officially here.

Oh, before I forget:

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Just from these replies:
Georgia: 1
Canada: 1
Cuba: 1
New York: 3
Texas: 5
Dallas: 7
Mass: 1
Michigan: 2
Kansas: 1
Ill: 1
California: 1
Puerto Rico: 1
Central America: 1

14 born in other states/countries
12 born in Dallas and/or Texas

I'd say that is a pretty far representation as I'm sure that half the population of the Dallas Metroplex as far as adults are concerned were not born in Dallas or Texas.
