Aldi locations and job fair
Aldi is coming to the Dallas area. This article gives out the info about the job fair last week but I saw it on the news Sunday and there is one this week as well.
There is also a list of the locations they will be at in the Dallas area.

I'm with someone on the other thread that said it sounds all too familiar. These big discount chains w/ small stores trying to come into this market. Rarely do they survive as they can't compete w/ our market here. We are spoiled when it comes to grocery stores here. We have some of the best grocery stores around when it comes to selection, customer service, prices, overall clean appearance, produce, etc. At least the local governments and school districts seemed to make good use of the old Food Lion stores.

Yes, the list of stores coming to Dallas has been posted here a couple of times, but not the job fair info. As for dicount chains, I agree, all to well I remember Food Lion, we did some shopping at the one in Lewisville , but again, Aldis is very different. Will it make it? I have no idea, it isn't my type of store. I don't do large chains as a rule either. I just think it is fair to mention Aldis is not like all other discount food chains.
As for where I shop, I do Sams, I do small specialty stores or local grocery store which we are lucky to have here, not in Texas hardly ever and if I still need something I will do super Wal-Mart.

We don't live in Texas anymore, but depending on where you are, I have a suggestion: In Flower Mound there is a store called Sprouts, I don't know if they have any other locations. It is similar to Trader Joes, good prices, fresh everything and fun. I go there with my daughter when we are in town. Of course the other, is the Farmers markets, especially the big one near downtown. We will that the weekend of the 4th. Otherwise, you are right, it is hard to find much in Texas that isn't chain...for breads there are several good bakeries around Dallas and a great one in Denton. Again, I don't know where you live. Of the chains I favor Tom Thumb or did when we lived in the area.

Aldi's is great. Used to shop there when we lived up north. Good cheap prices, not a huge store but has great deals. Can't wait till they open in Texas! You will like it! No frills store which keeps the price down.

We haven't been to the one here in AR but everyone says they have great and very inexpensive produce.
