Im looking at some houses in Coppell in the Hollows at Northlake woodlands and Im afraid that the railroad is going to be a drawback. My toddler is a light sleeper and so Im curious as to how often these tracks are actually used. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would be most concerend as to what these trains are carrying. I live in a community where there was a nearby train derailment and several people in the town where it actually occurred died to the exposure to the toxic chemicals. Below is the link to the story of the derailment.

I was searching for Northlake Woodlands in this forum and came across this post. Does anyone have the answers to the following questions:

1. How often do the trains pass on E Belt Line Rd in Coppell ? Someone living in Valley Ranch mentioned they can hear it at 5.30AM if they stand outside the house.

2. What do these trains transport ? scyogi's post scares the *(&# out of me

I live right next to the railroad tracks. The trains only pass through once or twice a day and they are always pretty quick. I'm not sure what gets transported, but it literally only lasts like a minute or two.

Now there are some railroad tracks at Belt Line and I-35 that are much busier, but you can't hear them from where I'm at. The tracks basically go North-South there, so they don't go through Coppell. The major annoyance about those tracks is if you get off the highway at Belt Line and a train is coming through. You could be stuck for 5-10 minutes.

In short, I wouldn't worry about the train along Belt Line. I very rarely notice it and when I do it is gone within a minute.

I travel Coppell roads daily and lived in 2 homes near the tracks for the last 13 years. I have never seen a train with more than 2-4 cars and rarely even see the train go by.

I believe it's just a feeder line to service the warehousing in west Coppell and get individual cars to Carrollton.

They are not a major factor. The power lines there are a bigger deal to some people but if you don't back to them you are OK. Also, have you determined the road noise from Beltline ? Don't believe it's a factor also.
