Non-hoa
Hello! Looking for clean neighborhoods and communities in the DFW area (price range under $300K, and age of home is 15 yrs or less) that are not associated with HOA.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas . . .

Bent Tree West. Homes might be a tad older, but the development has seen what I'd call a massive wave of renovations.

There are many neighborhoods. DFW is 3500 square miles. Where will you be commuting to?

Grand Prairie. And, I just found out that a friend of mine has just been offered a job at DFW; so info for Non-HOA communities 35-40 mins or less from Grand Prairie and DFW airport would be helpful. Thank you.

Naima,
I was curious about non-HOAs as well. However, I have been specifically interested in communities that are located in Frisco and Plano, and seem to always come up empty. I keep hearing that there are not much inventory for many non-HOA properties.
For me, I would like a newer home, but just not in an HOA community if this does exist please do let me know. My price range is $200 - $250K.
Thanks,
RB

I'd have to agree. Pretty much every single city around here about 15 years or more ago came in and said that every new development MUST have an HOA. The reason being is that the HOA is responsible for any green areas within that community and the areas that back up to main roads. Therefore, the city has less maint. and expenses to keep up all of these areas. They also felt it helped give the communities a sense of community. It helps to organize for Neighborhood Crime Watch programs and a myraid of other things. To find a development that new w/o an HOA........ your going to have to go pretty rural and even then it could have an HOA. Or, go with an older area w/o an HOA.
I was going to suggest an area in Garland that has fairly new to older custom homes that is well kept and very desireable called The Greens as they have a VOLUNTARY Neighborhood Association. This would just be a horrible commute to Grand Prarie though.

Grapevine. There are VERY few HOAs here, and the few that do exist are the voluntary ones that plan neighborhood parties, not the mean ones that tell you you can't park in the driveway, etc. There are plenty of homes in your price range in the southern part of Grapevine. Look especially around Parr Park. NICE area, and very lovely homes!
DFW Airport terminals actually sit IN Grapevine city limits, so commute is VERY easy. Most of my neighbors work for American Airlines!!

Thank you!
May I ask what school district is the Parr Park area and how good is that district?

If you'll find a good real estate agent they can search the MLS for homes and specify no HOA as a search criteria. As said earlier, just about everything built in the last 15 years has one.
