That happened in McKinney.

I believe that the Dallas portion of Duncanville ISD should be cut off, given to Dallas ISD, and have new middle and high schools built to serve it. That way, pressure is taken from Duncanville HS, and some parts formerly in Duncanville ISD now have access to Dallas ISD magnet schools.

Also, Duncanville ISD should build a second high school within the city limits of Duncanville.

The school district needs to go psycho.

It needs to make a proposition to "bad faith" parents who do not want to see the sons fail.

If the district keeps documented evidence (verified by another authority, such as the county) that the parents and students know the expectations of the classes, fail, do not take help, complain when told that THEY are failing, etc.... the district needs to bill the parents.

The district clearly wasted $7,000 (or whatever the tuition is) educating the spoiled brat with his awful parent, so it should ask for its money back. If the parent refuses or does not have the dough, district police and REPO men will come to the residence (after a jury approves the billing action) and take items that will make up for the 7,000, plus an extra 3,000 or 4,000, if possible, in order to make up for the extra costs of sending armed and armored police and REPO men.

School districts should be governed by the parents that care about education, and the districts should govern parents that do not care about education.

Was it last fall when the parents all had a fit that their kids did not do their summer required reading before the first day of school or the year before? Anyway, this is a HUGE problem and it can feaster and create an area and economy that will turn what could be a good area into one that you want to avoid. When every other school district around that has just as many minorities can get good scores and grades and does not have a problem w/ kids doing their required work it just looks bad. That tells future developers and planners that if they DO build there they may have a problem finding enough qualified employees that are local. Trust me, as an employer it is nice to have a majority of your employees living close to work. Not only does it keep them from getting burnt out from long commutes but they have a sense of pride in their community and they are that much closer to home for their family. The only time the Lancaster or Duncaville ISD make the news now is when parents have complaints about the school punishing their "little princes" or "lil johnny" that NEVER gets in trouble. Like I mentioned before the Duncanville HS band once was a Royal Dynamo in this area. They were AWESOME!!!!! The people I know that grew up there and went thru the system all went on to college and have good careers. The area has changed and it is really sad and even these people that grew up there no longer see it as good as it once was. Maybe this summer the parents have instilled in their kids the importance of education. We will see when the news comes on the first day of school depending on how many kids were sent home that day for failure to do so.

To DWB, how sad that the people of Texas think "crime is everywhere" how very wrong you are. Because you live here your expectations are ever so low. I am not 22 years old. I am 54 and I have lived in Calif, Illinois, Wisc, Az, Tx, Fla and I can tell you that Texas is by far the least safe place to live. Dont you read the newspapers? If you had you would then know that the Dallas area has more violent crime than the Chicago metro area. Now, that in itself is worrisome since Chicago has been long known for its extensive crime. I have taken the Citizen on Patrol class provided by the Duncanville police force so I am WELL informed of the crime rate in this area. I am an advocate for decreasing this crime but there are far more criminals than there are citizens able to control it. I have nothing but respect for the Duncanville police but there are not enough police officers to control the issue. I know what I am talking about, I'm not just blowing off steam. I suggest you also take the Citizens on Patrol class where you live in order to keep your family safe. It appears you may have your head deep in a hole. I have every plan in the world to leave Duncanville and Texas, however I couldnt give my home away. Even the poor do not want to live in Duncanville. Wake Up and get safe!!!!!

Good points! White flight is a reality, unfortunately. There have been national studies and caucasians are the group most likely to leave a mixed neighborhood or a neighborhood that is becoming more mixed.

As for the likely indicators for crime anywhere, look at the obvious things - being near a highway (easy escape route); through street instead of cul-de-sac; living near commercial or industrial areas; railroad passing through; closed businesses/abandoned property; property that isn't being maintained (tall grass, many weeds, broken fence, etc.).

They did well at UIL, but they fielded so many members that there really wasn't much room for them to maneuver on the grass.

Or maybe it's sour grapes on my part.

My co-worker lives there and she was robbed blind. Won't give the details, but they think it was done from someone that was tipped off due to the timeframe and circumstan. Dynamics have totally changed since she moved there 30 years ago. Her son said dynamics totally changed as well. Some major population changes.
