IMax Threatre in Dallas (on Webb Chapel)
Has anyone been to the IMax at this Cinemark on Webb Chapel in Dallas? Me and my girlfriend wanted to get the experience of a movie in this form. I've never experienced a real movie. I've been to the one in Fair Park in elem schools on field trips but that is educational videos. I want to see a movie.
For anyone who has been, how big is the screen and how is the seating set up? I'd appreciate it. It's a bit of a drive and I did not want to go if it wasn't worth the drive and price.
Thanks.

Re:
I've been there a few times, not in a while though.
It is what it says it is - a great big IMAX screen and a killer sound system.
I don't recall anything special about the seats.

Ya the seats are just regular movie theater seats and there isn't any more seats than just your regular movie theater.

It's different from the Nature and Science one because the one at the Muesum is a big dome-shaped screen, whereas at Cinemark 17 it's just a big giant version of a regular screen for the most part.

Thanks guys. I thought the seating would be domed shaped like the original in Fair Park.
So is it worth it to see say Transformers 2 in the IMax compared to just a regular screen?

I personally don't think that IMAX is worth the extra money, but the novelty factor has long since worn off for me as I live about a half-mile from the theatre. If I had never seen a movie on IMAX before I definitely would go for it just to get the experience because it is an audiovisual sensation that you don't usually get in life.

Yea I've never seen a real movie in IMax form. Just those educational type videos at the other one for school field trips.
How much are tickets to see a movie in IMax at the Cinemark on Webb Chapel?

Those are the regular prices at Cinemark 17, not IMAX.
IMAX Films: Adult $10.00
IMAX Films: Child (1-11) $8.00
IMAX Films: Senior (62+) $9.00
35mm Enhanced to IMAX: Adult $12.00
35mm Enhanced to IMAX: Child $10.00
35mm Enhanced to IMAX 3D: Adult $14.00
35mm Enhanced to IMAX 3D: Child $11.50
"IMAX Films" are the educational/non-theatrical movies that you might also see at the Science Place or another theatre. A regular movie on IMAX will cost $12 for most adults, which is outrageously expensive for a single movie. Also, because of the design of the theatre, there's no way for you to stay behind and see another movie on the same ticket if you like to do that sort of thing rather than paying for the movies you see.

Well, at the AMC in Mesquite, a regular ticket is about $10. I'll spend $12 for a movie if it's IMax to see what it is like. I won't be it a regular outing. About the only time I go to the theatre anymore is the dollar movie. I have no desire to spend $10 to see a movie all the time.
And darn, hahaha. I used to do that all the time. Buy a ticket for one movie, and stay for another one after the first one was done.
