BTW......the Homebuilders Award to Grand was for 'sales and marketing' - that's a whole different ballgame than 'quality and honesty.' Lots of people who go into home sales, start out at Grand because they do excellent training for sales people - they learn their trade there then leave as soon as they can to work for another builder - one where they don't have to deal with complaining customers who feel they've been duped in terms of quality and service follow-up, one where they are not embarassed to tell anyone who they sell for.

Grand is improving their service and quality by hiring 3rd party inspector & warranty services like Drees, Highland and other top volume builders to improve quality and warranty service. They build a nice home with high 2 story living areas which is sometimes hard to find under 400K.
***The builder is moving in the right direction and is located in some wonderful areas in the metro!

I couldn't agree more - I know Grand Homes has put a lot of money into third party surveys as of late and has been receiving great surveys and was voted Consumer's Choice Award for '09. I have and will gladly promote Grand Homes and have to say some of the negative posts seem a little shady - perhaps they are competitors (though there are sadly not many builders left in DFW today)

Nothing shady about all the real estate agents who don't like or recommend Grand Homes. I've been in the business 14 years, one of the top agents with my company, in DFW and deal with probably 30 new builds a year. So I know what I'm talking about.

All I can go by is past history. I've seen Grand homes that have very serious issues after about 1-2 years. I've talked to a lot of their employees, showed a lot of their homes over the years. For about the last 10 years Grand has consistently ranked at the very bottom of JD Powers Customer surveys and they have a poor reputation among people who are in the business and have a good deal of experience.

I've always said if you gave me a Grand Home I would probably give it back. There have been 3 builders I advise my clients to avoid and they are on the list.

I have no ulterior motive to all of this except the welfare of the people I help purchase a home.

And yes, this is just my opinion.

What are the other 2 builders you advise clients to avoid?
