Well it was either small hail or large sleet. The size (about 1/4") is within the range given by Wikipedia for hail, but I know it has more to do with how it's formed than what size it is. I'm no meteorologist. It was large enough I didn't want it hitting my windshield as I drove down the freeway.

Do you really not know the difference between 'hail' and 'sleet'?

It was sleet, but I've never seen sleet like that before. It was "angry" like hail. Thunder, then violent ice for a few moments. It was creepy!

I heard this warning saying that people shouldn't set their heater to temperatures above 68 tomorrow. There will be a massive overload on the electric system and many people might experience power outages if everyone pushes their heater to the limit.

I always thought most people around the DFW area had gas heat ? (At least in single family housing) Anyone know the breakdown of how much gas vs electric heat?
