It is after those Memorial Day and 4th of July boaters have polluted the lakes. They really should insist that every boat has a potty on it. Wonder how low the water is up at Lavon now? That is where it comes from.

Man alive I need to put this in my profile every summer.
Save your money and get a Brita or a Pur pitcher, but make sure it takes a filter with a charcoal element in it.
My wife can't stand the water straight from the tap during the summer, but with our Brita pitcher 95%+ of the algae odor & taste is removed from the water.
The up-front cost of the pitcher and filters will save you GOBS on the back end over the cost of the bottled water, and it produces a lot less waste.

Hahaha! It's caused by the algae bloom this time of year! Not poo-poo from people using the lake...

I remember several years ago when my husband's aunt came for a visit. She could not stand the water (we're in Dallas, not Plano) and actually called the city to tell them something was wrong! They explained the issue to her (algae). She named the water "grave water", said she was going to the store to get bottled water because she wasn't going to drink anymore "grave water." Ew!

I know. Just had to get that one in there.
I love being out at the lake and the kids in the water and one will always say, "I need to go". Their parents are like........... YOUR IN A LAKE! Go.
Maybe if we all dumped a bucket of chlorine tablets in the lakes it would help.

I have PUR and Aquasana filters that work nicely.

algae bloom is caused by poo-poo.
specifically, agricultural runoff increasing the primary food source for algal blooms: phosphates (the explosive component in fertilizer)

Super chlorinate will do the job...but it'll just cost a bunch to do the entire lake.
