Lakewooder, I'm honored. I didn't know you ventured out this far to visit my side of Dallas. You realize we're outside the loop, right?

You mean Loop 12 -- yes when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s I went to Dr. Jenkins next door to the Dairy-Ette. We always got a root beer as a reward. That was practically the edge of town back then! A little empty territory before you got to Big Town.

LOL I don't get on 'the other side of the lake' much these days! Of course you can say that about us, too...

Dr. Jenkins lives on 'this side' of the lake in the Cloisters. His son went to WW. I also went to school with the son of my orthodontist and he was at Northlake Center in (gasp) LH...but he also lived in the Cloisters...no burger joint that far out then...Keller's was closer on NW Highway.

I wonder if this is the same Dr. Jenkins who used to deliver babies (and do everything else) at the old East Dallas Hospital back in the 1950s? If so, he delivered me.

Used to know a couple who lived in the Cloisters. They built a "Pompei" styled home there in the late 70s that had a big write-up in the newspaper. Fancy neighborhood.

We try to stop in at the Dairy-ette when we are in the neighborhood. Great root beer, burgers and malts. A good friend of mine ran the lawnmower shop across the street for many years way back when.

The best hamburger I've ever eaten was at the Holy Grail pub in Plano.

Ah, the Dairy-ette. When I worked near Samuell-Grand we'd make the field trip over there. And we've been to a few car shows there. But it's been a few years. We should do that this week while it's nice.
