Default Need advice on areas north of Dallas

My husband and I will be moving to the Dallas area this summer. He will be working near the Galleria. We are looking at areas in Plano, such as Hills at Prestonwood, Cypress Point, and Willowbend, or Stonebriar in Frisco. We just re-modeled the home we're leaving, so don't want to have to do a whole lot to a new one. We would like a safe, friendly area with access to good tennis facilities. How are the areas we are looking at? Any other suggestions?

Go West Plano....tons of great stores and restaurants. Also very easy to get around.

I'd actually recommend you consider somewhere closer in, if it fits your budget. The commute in the mornings from Plano down the Tollway can take a while. Whereas the traffic headed north on the Tollway is moving at (or above) the speed limit.

Double check this - we looked at some houses in Lakes of Legacy in Frisco and saw that if you live in this subdivision, you can use the tennis courts at the Legacy Tennis Academy. Might be something to look into.

North Dallas home prices (South of LBJ) are appreciating at 29% per year. Good reason not to go to Plano . Plus the traffic will give you migranes. Good tennis facilities all round.

Lakewooder's link is a good tool for getting the feel of the housing market in the Metroplex. (Well at least the Dallas side.)

The Hills at Prestonwood is one of my favorite subdivisions. The lots on the golf course or creek are beautiful. It is in Lewisville ISD which is something to consider if you have school age children. If you do I would recommend Wyndham Hill or Willowbend West in Plano ISD

I looked at Prestonwood because it is priced right for that area of Plano (i.e. value). While the Lewisville schools are not perceived as desirable there as Plano, the actual lewisville schools that area uses are prety nice (i.e.Indian Creek, etc.). The one thing that spooked me a little was Prestonwood Church itself....that place is like it's own city!!! Then, evey home I looked at there, the whole draw seemed to be 'so are you a member of Prestonwood church?'. It just gave me a weird vibe. Nice area though, essentially planted on the border of Carrolton.
