I am moving to the Dallas-area from Seattle, by way of Fresno CA. I will be working just north of Coppell, just south of Flower Mound. I am a mid-20's single professional looking for somewhere to live that is both close to work and downtown Dallas.

Any suggestions?

Las Colinas, a large area of Irving has a lot of young professionals there. It puts you right in the middle between your work location and the downtown area for play. Or just go to the uptown area of Dallas for a little longer commute.

I think I would go with Uptown. The commute is a bit further but you would be going against traffic. Las Colinas should also get very strong consideration. It has a very vibrant singles scene.

Uptown is the place - you could probably also live a little further east around Knox-Henderson and still be ok with the commute. I am not in my 20s but I go out and I have to say the Henderson scene is the hottest thing seen in this town in some time.

I'd vote for Las Colinas, which is technically part of Irving. There's no need to fight the traffic the whole way from Uptown/K-H and back each day, and Las Colinas has a lot of young singles.

Las Colinas is terrible for singles in their 20s. I lived there a couple years ago and there is NOTHING to do there except drive to Uptown and hope one of your friends lets you crash their couch (or you find some hottie to shack with) so you don't have to take a $40 cab ride home.

Painful.

Yeah pretty much most of the suburbs anywhere would be terrible for young professionals. Try Uptown.

^ LOL. I know that's right.

Las Colinas is up and coming with new lofts/condos and other urban-type developments including a light rail station under construction, but still has years to go before it's a true active urban center like Uptown. LC is still worth giving a look. A daily commute between Uptown and Coppell isn't something I'd want to undertake.

agreed. don't let people who are not in their 20's tell you where to live. i would be miserable in LC. move uptown.
