question about reunion tower
so I just found out that the reunion tower observatory is closed until december. With that in mind, is there anything to see there?
Can I still go inside the tower? Can I go to the top? Is there anything to see? Is there still an unofficial observation area?

I thought that Wolfgang Puck had a new restaurant there called Five-Sixty. Is it not there anymore?

There is an observation deck and there is Wolfgang Puck's new restaurant called 560. The two are separate. Apparently the observation deck has not yet re-opened. You can still dine at the restaurant or hang out at the bar for the view: Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck Dallas :: Asian Restaurant

The food and the view are perfection, BTW.

Even if you cannot get to the observation tower at Reunion, there is still analternate observation site.
The building with the hole through the top... can't remember its current name... has a sky lobby near the top floor. You can ride the elevator up to the sky lobby and enjoy the view. The detail of downtown Dallas is better, in my opinion, than the one at reunion. Yes, you will be looking through glass rather than out in the open air, but the view is still breathtaking.
Can anybody attach a name to the building-with-a-hole?

I can't remember the name of the building. I want to say it's a bank bldg (maybe Chase). The entrance is on San Jacinto across from Plaza of the Americas. Ace is right - it's a great view. You just go in to elevators and look for the "sky lobby".

Yes, It's the Chase building, 40th floor. It's just one great big space with tall windows. On the north side there is this water park. Don't do like I did and walk out into the water thinking I had a dry floor under me. There are parking meters right next to the building. You have to move your car by by 4pm. I have a 180 panaorama photograph I made while having my tripod pearched in the little bay window, but not on this computer.

The observation deck should open at the end of 2009, with a few other surprises. Had dinner at 560 in the tower the other evening and it's looking very nice!
