We almost always have a wind/hail-related damage event somewhere in DFW in the spring. However, very seldom do they do more than tear a few shingles off and break/topple a few trees. Even the "tornado" from the posted video above is not confirmed, it could be a microburst or other non-tornadic event. If it was a tornado, it was probably an F0 (the weakest category). Tornado damage paths are narrow by nature - you're much more likely to get damage from straight line winds and/or hail with the occasional lightning-generated fire.

Injuries and especially deaths are *very* rare. I've lived in DFW for 40 years and I've never seen a tornado here, and only had storm-related damage once (hail damage in the mother-of-all-hail-storms back in 1995).

It does happen a lot in the spring, by a lot I would guess about once a year. But the storms do not affect the entire metro-plex anymore than floods, wind damage, fires and earthquakes affect the entire Los Angeles area or the entire state of California. We lived in the Dallas area for 13 years, did have 2 new roofs put on because of hail damage, but no one in our area was ever injured nor was the damage much more than to many roofs and a few uprooted trees. Our daughter has been there 23 years, not often has there been enough damage to worry about and our other kids lived in the Dallas area, same story, very little real damage ever occurred.

We have relatives in the Southlake area, again, they have never had any serious damage.
