It's obvious you are not a fan of Carrollton. Carrollton is still a very respected and valued community. Plano and Frisco have neighborhoods of the same catagory. I would think most people would do a solid search of neighborhoods before investing. Using a good reality company will help in making the right decisions for anyone.

Based on what I've read and talking to alot of people that have lived there, Carrolton has gone downhill over the years. At one time, it was the Plano of North Dallas, the place where everyone wanted to move and raise a family. Nowadays, it's not bad, but there is just alot that is better. I liked Castle Hills, but one of the reasons I couldn't buy there was the overall low image that Carrolton has with alot of the people that live here.

Perception is 9/10ths of value.

On the flip side, I predict that it makes a comeback in the years to come because it is still very centrally located with regards to employment.

You may not be aware (probably you are, but others may not be) - but CH is not in Carrollton, it is considered part of Lewisville. It is adjacent to Carrollton, but it doesn't suffer from the city government issues/bad decisions that have put portions of Carrollton in its current condition.

Fortunately, the areas of Carrollton that are nearby are generally newer construction (Moore Farm) or better maintained existing areas (Coyote Ridge and others).

Carrollton has been getting a bad rap here, some deserved, but there are some very nice areas in the northern parts of town with rolling hills and lots of trees (Dallas proper does not hold the monopoly on mature trees, as much as some would like everyone to think so). As sonshinelife said, there are good and bad areas in any city the size of Carrollton (I've seen them in Plano and Garland too) - just do your research to avoid the bad spots.

I thought CH was Carrolton. I've stand corrected. It was also somewhat expensive for what I was looking at, so that's another reason. It did feel like it was in Carrolton.

CH is tricky. I forgot too that it was considered Lewisville. It actually lies between Carrollton land and Carrollton land if that makes any sense. 75010 is located to the west of CH and to the northeast of CH. Kind of confusing.

A friend of mine was having furniture delivered and the clerk asked her for her zip code which was 75056 and the girl said ..."oh The Colony"...and my friend about had a heart attack and said no...."it's Castle Hills" and the girl said "when I put in that zip code, it comes up The Colony". She does indeed have the same zip code as The Colony...but it's Castle Hills. I never thought to ask her what "city" her address is in.
