I think Dallas is only marginally more conservative than Austin. The suburbs of Dallas can be very conservative, but so can Round Rock!

It is an elective, not a required course. Considering the importance that the Judeao/Christian ethic and teachings had on shaping the framework of our constitution and America itself, it is absolutely appropriate. You can also look at it as another school of philosophy that is being presented. When I went to school I had to sit through courses on schools of philosophy that while I did not agree with, the understanding of them was an important part of my education. If it was a compulsory religious class, then I would have a problem with it and i am speaking as an Orthodox Christian.

To arts guy...please seek therapy....

I think teaching religion is a no brainer. I think it is fair to teach all the world's religions - after all, religion has and continues to have a huge impact on the history and future of life on this planet. Frankly - am I gonna say it? Yes I am - it's even had more impact on the world than football!

The key is teaching about religion, not indoctrinating children with religious dogma. Religion has brought out the best and worst of us - from Mother Teresa to the Inquisitioners. Religion is a fascinating story regardless of what you believe or do not believe. To me it is the story of a society awakening and coming of age.

Of them all, I like Buddhism, Hindu, and Zen the best. Buddha is always smiling and waving hello and really, who can argue with Hindu sensuality?

We can dance. There is nothing in the Bible that says dancing is a sin. As a matter of fact it DOES say that there "is a time for dancing". Heck, even Baylor started allowing "foot movements" about 20-25 years ago. Or like one friend that went to a Baptist college said about their dance classes, one foot had to stay on the ground. So if I'm going to pole dance I have to keep one foot on the ground. I've gotten some pretty good moves from that one

Tom DeLay........ YUCK! I don't care if he is Baptist or not. I don't care to see HIM dance any kind of dance. We need a smilie with the hand over the eyes.

Yep, don't have to like the sin but you better darn well like the sinner.

OT, sorry all, did you see where C. Shelby's classmate and fellow car enthuasist is headed to California w/ his artwork? Bill Neal (sp?).

I'm gonna call bull on that.

At least here, football IS a religion. Worshipping gods like G.A. Moore and Gordon Wood on Friday and Darrell Royal and RC Slocum and Vince Young on Saturday and Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach and Tom Landry on Sunday are every bit as important as worshipping Jesus Christ and the Lord on Sunday.

Schools, and as a result, their football teams, are really the only things keeping a lot of Texas towns alive. The schools mean a hell of a lot to a lot of people.
