Lewisville or Flower Mound
We are moving to either Lewisville or FM.
We have two children, age 4 and newborn. DH works in Irving.
Just wanted to know the good and bad of both areas and what area to choose.
I am leaning towards FM but just wanted to get some opinions.
Thanks

Both are great family communities and have the same school district. If you can find a home that you are happy with, I would move to Flower Mound. It is a little better, with less crime and less traffic. Well I don't know about the traffic part. I wouldn't hesitate to move to either community.

Flower Mound is a little pricier, but a lot nicer.
They are both Lewisville ISD, but Flower Mound schools are generally better than Lewisville schools.
More bad areas of Lewisville than in Flower Mound, but it also depends on where exactly you are looking. They both cover a lot of land.
I love Flower Mound, I live slightly north of it. I wanted to buy in Flower Mound, but my wife liked Lantana better.
You can't go wrong with either one, but I would take Flower Mound. You might also consider Highland Village.
What's your budget? A nice house in Flower Mound starts around $225K and goes up to about $350K or so.

Thank you both for responding.
We want to spend around 225,000 on a home.
Are there any areas in FM we should avoid?
We live in Ft Worth right now but originally from the UK so we really do not know the area.
Thank you.

You can buy a nice house in Flower Mound.
Look in the FM 3040 / 2499 area. It's about the most major intersection in Flower Mound, and there are a lot of houses right near it.

Flower Mound is much newer & nicer than Lewisville, which has been turning kinda dumpy the past few years IMO, that was confirmed on my most recent shopping experience last weekend at the Vista Ridge Mall.

I would also recommend FM over Lewisville. Most schools in FM are exemplary now including FM High School. There are a lot of Sub-Divisions where you can get houses within your budget. Try if you can get something of your liking in Wellington SD.
With so many road projects going on in FM you have to figure out the area you want to avoid now and leverage say 5 years later when all these road projects will be done - see link below.

I don't live in either one but would agree that Lewisville is getting a little shop worn--new construction in Flower Mound makes it more upscale
but it is further from freeway and roads are the pits right now and will be for some time to come
what about commute???

To me Lewisville is like many of the older burbs. The have horrible, good and great area's. Flower Mound is pretty much great all over. If given the choice I would choose Flower Mound because they have better schools overall. Lewisville has some nice areas but you certainly would have to do more of your homework. I think most people would tell you Flower Mound is better on average.

Flower Mound for sure. For easiest access to your husband's work, you will want to go with getmeoutofhere's suggestion and be somewhere in the vicinity of 3040 and 2499. A very do-able commute to Irving.
