Default Please recommend me a good vet

Hi Dallasites

Can you please recommend me a good vet? I need to take one of my 4-legged daughters to the doc and I've just gone to VCA clinic.

A friend recommend me hers but it's far away. (I'm near White Rock Lake).

It would be helpful if you have some price references too. I've googled info and I've found reviews saying "this vet is not that good but it is overpriced" and that's what I want to avoid.

Thanks in advance guys. Have a nice weekend.

My dad takes puppy and olivia to this vet in Mesquite that talks to them and pets them. They bend down to do things instead of putting them on a table.

For the last 4 years I've gone to Katy Trail Animal Hospital on Fitzhugh at 75. My pet-loving family members do too and we've had nothing but great experiences. (I like the owner, Dr. Colleen Murray for cats and Mandy Waller, the clinic's chief surgeon, for my dogs. But both are excellent.)

They use traditional approaches but don't automatically subscribe to outdated vaccine/diet protocols and they have a holistic specialist who practices there a few times a week. They're wonderful about giving all kinds of options for any sick or special needs pet and don't push surgery for every little ailment like I experienced previously. For simple healthy-pet check ups the mood is always lighthearted.

I recently joined Angie's List and was stoked to see KTAH is the #1 rated vet in the area for maximum positive A reports.

The office visit is about $55. I would say KT is on the pricier side, but I have 5 pets and long gave up counting the dollars or else I'd have to report some kind of exact figure to my hubby, lol. But I have my receipts for a variety of visits so feel free to DM me. Because I always get the correct diagnosis the first time, I'm willing to shell out a few extra bucks for superior care and not having some dogfood brand, miracle shampoo or needless 'we're just in it for the money' procedure pushed on me. Not being corporately owned, IMO, makes the clinic more appealing to me.

My only real negative is their medication prices for preventatives/meds. But both Waller and Murray know I purchase my flea and heartworm meds elsewhere and never push or guilt you with the 'you have to buy that here' thing. Which is appreciated. I've even asked to have a 'script called in to my local pharmacy if it's available. But I'd guestimate in-house pill prices are about $1+ more, per pill (ouch) than other vets. Pre-anesthesia blood work and tests are not optional at KTAH so surgery prices aren't picked a la carte like some vets...so we have spent more for teeth cleaning and altering than we did before discovering KTAH. But the quality of care and trust I have with them is amazing.
