Does anyone know of a small local individual who sells eggs? I am looking for eggs that come from someone's hens who are really truly free range, in other words that run around a yard and enjoy their lives and lay eggs when they naturally would lay eggs...
I live in East Dallas near White Rock Lake and would love to know if anyone knows of someone like this nearby.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You should be able to find someone pretty close to you. I have seen stories in the Dallas Morning News about people that raise them in their backyards in the city. You might try the Farmers Market or post something on this meet up group:

I believe they are technically called "Pastured Eggs" since the chickens actually roam in pastures.

The Green Spot has them in their coolers - Buckner and Northcliff.

There are a couple of people who sell them at the new Farmer's Market in the White Rock Area. We tried some last time we were there, and they were delicious.

The Market is also at the Green Spot

for those of you who have never eaten eggs from chickens that roam--just be aware that those eggs can reflect what the chicken eats--free-range chickens can range on some iffy products even in "bucolic pastures"
I grew up in small town south of Austin in Central TX--we had chickens--they ate "stink" bugs from time to time--
those eggs got thrown out ...ugh...

Marianna Greene at the Dallas Morning News could also be of help since she is connected with the locals in East Dallas doing this and writes for the garden section - magreene@dallasnews.com
