Default Which neighborhood

So I have been searching and studying this site for several months and have trouble finding my answers. Our family of 5 is planning a move to Dallas/Lewisville. Our children are Kdg, PreK, & 6mos. My husband will work in Lewisville. Our son will go to school in Lewisville. The question is where do we rent. We want a safe neighborhood in or around Lewisville that isnt over a 20 or 30 minute commute in rush hour.
We can spend up to $2,000 on rent and would like a family oriented neighborhood with trees if possible. The new developments are such a turn- off with the shared fences and no side yard/privacy. We would like to have a house that isnt looking into someone else's and have some trees or a green belt near us. West Plano houses have a great amount of space inside, but are built right up against another house. Posters on this site believe Lewisville has many bad areas. They have also posted that West Plano is a bad commute to and from Lewisville.
IS this info correct? WHat would you suggest?

Not all of Lewisville is bad, just mostly the older parts on the east side of town. Get a Realtor to help you find a good rental property. Lots of Lewisville is nice and has trees and parks. You sound like you want an older home, and there are plenty of those in Lewisville that are nice.

You will NOT be able to find a place in West Plano for $2k, and yes, the commute to Lewisville would be very long and on a toll road.

What is the commute to Flower Mound, TX 75022 in the rural area. Is it longer in the winter due to snow and ice?
What exactly is the commute to Plano from 75067, Lewisville? Do I double the time on google maps?

Have you looked in Mckinney or the south portions of Prosper? Both areas would not be a bad commute to Lewisville.

Why would these be better than Plano? Both are further away and use the toll road. Can you explain which roads I would take then?

I was wondering the same thing. What about areas of Flower Mound and Coppell? Those will give you very short commutes.

Don't worry about snow and ice. We might get snow/ice on one day each year. That's just about it.

I would look at Flower Mound, Coppell and Highland Village. Any of them would meet your needs and are really close to Lewisville.

You can get a great home rental for 2000 in Flower Mound, Coppell, or Highland Village. Quick commute to Lewisville - no worries about bad weather - it just doesn't happen enough to factor it in! I thought I'd include a link to a rental that I saw listed about a week ago - it's a little above your price range, but it's a beautiful home ON Lake Lewisville - in Highland Shores (the nicest neighborhood, with old trees, etc. in Highland Village) If I didn't already own a home, I'd be renting this in a heartbeat! for just under 3K per month. By the way, I'm not a realtor, I just watch the market in the area unless "the perfect one" comes on.........

Not all of east Lewisville is bad. My mom lives in a nice quiet, tree filled neighborhood just off of 407 right before you hit Lake Lewisville. She's got a 1/3 acre lot, a pool, lots of trees, an easy walk to the park and the fishing pier. Quick drive over to Sneaky Pete's for the boat launch.

She's moving, but only because Dad has passed and she wants to live up near her church and the best friends on the other side of Lake Lewisville.
