arlington area
I have been reading the threads and its been very informative. I have been planning a move from Detroit area to the Dallas area for some time now. I have decided on the Arlington area because of its location. I have been told by a coworker to look in the arlington area that's within mansfield school district, manfield, or cedar hill. I am looking to rent a 4 or 5brm home, with a nice size yard, family oriented, with diversity, a nice upper middle class area. I have school age children, so a nice highschool and elementary school would be nice. I have never been to Texas will be visiting very soon to check out the area. I would greatly appreciate any and all advice.
Thanks in advance

Will you be working at the GM plant in Arlington? I thought they were laying off & temporarily shutting down production last I heard.

West and southwest side of town will have the nicest homes. But do you know what city you will be working in?

If you're looking to move to Arlington, you might wanna think about working at a hospital in Fort Worth as its a lot closer than Dallas.

arlington itself has hospitals--
I guess the person who told you Mansfield vs Arlington was because of school district--
I think that is kind of toss-up in some ways but would consider the ages of your children
you don't mention rent---
there are some areas in both mansfield and arlington that have problems with flooding at times
I think you should do a search on this forum for both towns and read some of the posts
this question/comparison has come up several times over past year and there is current info posted
and check the FTW thread--since Arlington is in Tarrant county--most posts about it are on there

Have you already located a job in the DFW area. There are some nice homes in that area but if you land a job in north dallas your commute is going to be killer. Also what is your price range. A 5 bedroom home is pretty large by Texas standards. A little more information please.

Thank you all for your comments. I am focusing my job search on the arlington area. I'm looking to pay $2000 no more than 2200

I would add some of the larger homes in Grand Prairie to your list. look for something south of I-20. Keller should also be on your list.
