Question Suggestions on Where to Live

I am quite possibly moving to Dallas for a new career position. It may happen rather quickly, by June 1st. I presently live in Santa Monica, CA which unlike most areas in Southern CA where you need your car all the time, it has a wonderful sense of community and you could walk to great restaurants and shops...I am a young 42 male, single, enjoy sports and the arts, etc...Traffic is not a consideration since I will have no set schedule or office to drive to. Any ideas for a rental situation for one with a better than average income? Thanks...

First of all.....you will get so much more for your money anywhere in the DFW area. You will think you've died and gone to Heaven! There is a several really neat lofts in Dallas. I'm married and have kids...so I don't know a lot of things about the "hip" scene but I'm sure its good. However...I spent a lot of time in Santa Monica and I can't imagine that Dallas could come close. Is the King's Head still there?

You can walk and have a sense of community in Downtown, Uptown, Cedar Springs, Knox/Henderson, The Southside, Lower Greenville, Lakewood Shopping Center and the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff.

Addison is another consideration for the single scene. (Or so I hear, I'm married with children, so I don't get out much.)
