Yesterday my uncle was using his weed eater. He heard a noise and African Killer Bees started attacking him. His pit bull was stung by over 1,000 bees. He ran in the house and put on some protective close and when he made it back outside the dog was covered from head to toe with bees. He some kind of way got the dog over the fence and rushed him to the vet. The vet said they would not be able to save him. His body temperature was 78 degrees above the normal rate. His brain was frying. They ended up having to euthanize the dog. This morning his other dog died from being attacked by the bees also.

This attack took place in Forest Hill, Texas. I have never heard of africanized bees in Texas, but apparently this something that all of us need to stay vigilant of. These bees are not your regular bees. They will attack if they feel threatened. They are hyper sensitive to loud noises and will attack.

I am so sorry. Yes, we've had Africanized killer bees here as long as I can remember. They are very aggressive and attack all at once, unlike other bees. How is your uncle doing?

There was another man yesterday, Monday, that was stung all over by them as well. The fire department came out and the EMT workers could not even get to him to help as they were getting attacked as well. The firemen had to use their hose and foam to get them off of them.

I saw that on the news last night. I wasn't listening too closely, but I thought I heard the reporter say that the guy was trying to remove the hive when he was attacked? I can't imagine trying to do that even with the regular kind.

The 83 year old Cleburne man attacked yesterday was mowing his yard when bees from his own hive attacked him. They were not Africanized bees. Here's the story - Cleburne Man Stung By Bees More Than 100 Times - cbs11tv.com (http://cbs11tv.com/local/Cleburne.bee.attack.2.1199202.html - broken link)

Oh, I see. Thank you. I must have caught the first report on it, they didn't say it was his own hive.

what a sad, sad story. I am one of those who goes nuts when I see any bee. I love them to pollinate the garden, but that is all. I hear one or see one and I am on my way the other direction.

As an animal lover, I would be very upset too. Poor dogs. I'm glad your uncle is doing OK, though.
