Is the Dallas North Tollway my best bet to work?
In about 3 weeks I will be starting work at Capital One Auto in Plano located right of the tollway. I was trying to avoid the tollway but other routes on google seem too far out the way.
I live at the village apts so the quickest route will be 75 to 635 then to the tollway (about 14 miles). How much will I be paying in tolls on the way to work? Do anybody know any other routes from that location? (I have to be there at 8 a.m.)

Get thyself a TollTag. With the tolltag you also get a discount for each toll.

The portion of 635 between 75 and the tollway is very slow moving, but doable. Also, 75 is usually heavy in both sides between downtown and 635. Only north of 635 can you really tell the major flow of traffic on 75. You might try taking Northwest Highway over to the Tollway and then going straight up. The Tollway northbound in the mornings and southbound in the afternoons is usually moving along just fine. Either way, your going to need a Tolltag. It costs $2.32 each way to go from Northwest Hwy to Parker Rd in Plano on the tollway. It's $1.70 each way from 635 to Parker Rd.

Traffic on 635 can be hellish at almost any time of day. An alternative route would be driving west on NW Highway to the tollway. That will be the same or less distance and probably quicker.

You might also consider 75 to the George Bush Tollway and then up the Dallas North Tollway. There will probably be less people on the George Bush than 635. The good news is that you're mostly going against the traffic on 75 and DNT. Traffic is about the same in both directions on 635 and GB.

Good suggestion about NW Highway to Tollway - you should take Caruth Haven out of The Village as a short cut. If NW Highway is bad you can take Hillcrest and go to 635 or even cut over on several streets such as Royal, Walnut Hill or Spring Valley.

We take Royal on early mornings over to Love Field off of 75 and there is hardly any traffic. Ssshhh! So going Royal to the Dallas North Tollway should be a piece of cake and it MOVES.

Yeah ! Short cut to Hillcrest or Walnut Hill or even Royal is to just go up Boedeker next to North Park instead of turning left on NW Highway. Just cut over at Park or one of the others mentioned.
