which to choose: Lewisville or The Colony?
we plan to move to Texas and finally narrow down to two cities: Lewisville and The Colony. Any info regarding school systems (elementary..middle), jobs outlook, average housing cost (3beds/2bath house),traffics, etc..that
you can give is greatly appreciated ...And any main reasons that made you
chose one city over the other that you can share ...
Thanks a lots !!!

you know they are so similar it probably doesn't make a lot of difference. Both have a couple of older neighborhoods that you may not want to live near and both have awesome newer neighborhoods. I would choose the one closest to where I would be working. Lewisville does offer a little better shopping etc because it is much larger, but the traffic is worse.'

Lived in that area for about 22 years. Had many great friends and loved living there until the last two or three years when it seems that a lot of the smaller homes turned into rentals and the renters were not screened well and brought some drug problems into the neighborhood. We moved to East Texas for our youngest to have a better education and have not looked back.....we are now in a great school district and she is way above where we feel she would have been.

I love Tyler, but that isn't an option for the OP. there are drugs everywhere unfortunately. It is something we have to be aware of and hopefully we can instill good morals into our kids so they are not as apt to try them.

I think LISD is a bit better ranked than Frisco ISD, which I believe covers part of the Colony.
Obviously, Lewisville gets LISD, but if you choose the Colony, try to get a place there that is in LISD.

Houses is The Colony were mostly built by Fox & Jacobs. Do a search here and see what others say. I'll summarize by saying they haven't aged well... What is your price range?
Traffic to the northern portions of The Colony can be awful at peak times. Lewisville also has traffic, but not like that.

I can only say good things about LISD ....at least at the lower levels...I worked for them for over 10 years in The Colony and the school where I was, was awesome......
And you are right....there are drugs everywhere...but I just didn't want them living next door to me and selling them outside their windows....which is what was going on....mind you ....we didn't live in the wrong side of town...it was just the fact that the people were transient.....never staying long...and never being community minded.

For a city of its size, The Colony has a very low crime rate.
