Hispanics in Dallas & Plano
I have live in Tampa, FL for 3 years, after living in MN for 12, I'm thinking about perhaps moving to dallas, plano area en Texas, I have been in the mortgage industry for 7 years but I was forced to get a job already for 1 1/2 year in a call center which is all you can find that pays decent here, and is all you can find,(This is Verizon, top pay for the area, almost $23) but I hate it, still do 3 or 4 mortgage transactions a year, how is the economy doing in 2009 in Dallas area, I love the diversity of hispanics here in FL from everywere, Central, South, Caribbeans, Mexicans, Etc, is there a diverse hispanic population there, are there Colombian restaurants, Cuban or Central Americans, provide some input and please let me know if the economy still growing or there lay offs happening too.

I would say no, there is not a huge Hispanic population in the Plano area, but more so in Dallas area (and further down Southern areas) I would say the economy for TX in general is much more stable than FL.

Irving, Kaufman and South Dallas.
The most major Hispanic population in Texas is El Palso if you like to move further South of Texas.

Try Houston. There are more Hispanics in Houston. And, the weather is more similiar to Florida.

Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi are the major Hispanic cities of Texas.

I agree. Plus, the Hispanic population in Dallas is majority Mexican by a long ways. I would not say our Hispanic population is all that diverse.

And, let's not forget the Rio Grande City (Brownsville, McAllen, and Edinburg).

Yes, the vast majority are Mexican. There is a rapidly growing number of Salvadorians, and some Puerto Ricans. Mostly likely there are people from all Latin American countries, just not in large numbers.

Interesting. When I lived in Old East Dallas on East Side - on my block, two Cubans in different houses, one family from El Salvador and two Mexican households.
I will add that I find the Hispanic population more kind and respectful in Texas than the Hispanic population when I lived on South Beach in the early 90s.
