Default Best Place to live if working at VA Hospital

Hello to all I have an option at working at the VA Hospital. I have been initially looking at homes in the Arlington area. What type of commute will I be looking at? Also, just looking at a google map can you give me some ideas of area to live and commutes in the following areas to the VA:

Arlington
HEB
Garland
Grand Prairie
Richardson

Thank You in Advance!!

Of those, GP is closest. Have you considered North Oak Cliff?

Garland would not be too bad if you were in an location that was easy to reach LBJ 635. There is not much traffic going East/South on 635 in the mornings. I've made it to the VA in about 30 minutes from my part of Garland before.

Garland, Mesquite, Sunnyvale, Cedar Hill and Grand Prairie would be easy commutes. The budget for the home could add or delete some additional areas. Even Rockwall would be a option if your not driving during rush hour.

Hurst-Euless-Bedford (HEB) would be an awfully long commute. Are you looking to buy or rent a house and if so, what is your price range? There are options closer to the VA like DeSoto, Lancaster, Glenn Heights, or even Waxahachie in Ellis County.

Totally agree. I'd avoid HEB for that commute.

Actually, if you stayed closer in even in Richardson, Garland and such and close to 635 you would be in a decent position for schools and commute. If you changed jobs you would not be locked into living on one far side of the metroplex and the new job on the complete opposite side and only a few optiosn for your commute.

If your single look into living IN Dallas. There are some great places to live w/in Dallas that would put you in the city center and close to work and other activities.

I would look south or east - Forney, Mesquite, Sunnyvale, Crandall, Ennis, Lancaster, Red Oak, Ovilla, Glenn Heights.

Four bedroom homes are pretty easy to find but 5 bedrooms are more difficult. What is your budget because with it you can add or delete some areas that have been mentioned.

I dont want to pay no more than 2100 per month. I can due with a 4 bdrm, I opted for 5 because of no basement which I am accustomed too.
