Default Moving from detroit area to Dallas Fort Worth area and truck driver jobs in Texas

My husband is a semi driver in Michigan. (owner operator) We USED to deliver auto parts but that is declining and there is not much left in michigan to haul without going over the road. We were looking at Texas. Is trucking still a large industry in Texas or is it declining as in Michigan? We are looking for a rental house in a middle to upper class area in the Dallas Fort worth area. Schools are extremely important as we have kids. I read a post mentioning Euless but times are changing quickly, is that still a good place to look? Any other suggestions? Has anyone moved from the metro detroit area to the dallas fort worth area recently that wouldn't mind sharing some tips? thanks!!
