We're not in PH proper, close enough. I think lots of those kids you saw at Franklin and Hillcrest were headed over to our house!

He was about a half mile north of there. Cars couldn't even get down Park west of Hillcrest. Craziness.

I've almost missed it the last 2 times now as well. Friday night last year w/ a school dance and then this year being Homecoming.
I want to come trick-or-treat at your house. We always said that we were trick-or-treating for beer or margarita's. Sometimes if we are in a large group one person will have the ice chest w/ refreshments in it and some neighbors we know will hand us a drink. I tend to end up staying home now to hand out the candy so that our house is not one with the porch light off and we're not stuck w/ a million pounds of candy. That is one problem w/ little kids. Both parents want to go w/ their own kids but that leaves no one at home to hand out the candy.

Here in Heights Park we had a few trick or treaters, not many. I would say we had maybe 8-9 groups total from 6:30 to 9:30pm.
The neighborhood kids were mostly pretty well behaved, taking only one piece of candy apiece. Some took two. The non-neighborhood kids (assuming they were because nobody spoke English) each took between 3-6 pieces of candy. One bunch of them cleaned me out of half the candy I had.

I always thought the best route was to have mom go half, circle back, switch to dad and finish up. That way both get to go and also share candy duty.

We live in Lakewood (not Old Lakewood, though) and had a fantastic time. Street party early, then the kids all headed out to trick or treat - it was an anthill of kids! Some families came in from other neighborhoods, but we generally welcome them...glad to have a place people feel safe, you know?
My kids got so much candy I started throwing it away that night. They couldn't eat it all if they tried...

Speaking of Lakewood -- great scene on Lakewood Blvd and the largest blow-up monster I have ever seen on Swiss Avenue - it must have been 75' tall!
Later the Woodrow alums were at Sons of Hermann Hall in Deep Ellum for our party:

We had more trick-or-treaters this year than last in my neighborhood. Most were kids from the neighborhood and we gave out candy from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. For me, it was a nice Halloween night and a pleasant experience overall.

Where I live in Murphy, there were a lot of trick-or-treaters. I went through 6 bags of candy--running out by 8:30.

Is there such as thing as a "halloween scrooge"? If so, I think I was it this year. I was not in the mood at all. I usually decorate big time and have costume party. I didn't even buy candy. DH went out around 5pm and bought about 40 bags, of course we ran out. We turned off the lights at 9:30 and at 10pm they were still ringing the doorbell, you could hear the trucks that dropped them off, coming back for them. These kids were carrying trash bags full of candy. Looks like they had fund in perspective.
