To the OP, heres some data that may interest you.
This study ranks all cities from most liberal and most conservative:
http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/statesman/...081205libs.pdf
This is what DFW (not Dallas proper) demogarphics are projected to be:
DFW Metropolitan Area Demographics
DFW is supposed to get 600,000 in 5 years. 520,000 are going to be hispanic. 39,000 will be "other race" (just about all of those will be Asian), 38,000 will be white, and only 3,500 will be black.
DFW is going through what LA went through in the early 90's. African Americans are fleeing, white growth is stagnant, the Asian community is growing, and the Hispanic community is flooding.

The great thing about Dallas is that the liberals and conservatives tolerate one another. There is a lot of harmony. Now, when you get into the tiny podunk towns surrounding DFW, then that is a whole other story. But don't be scared of Addison, Richardson, etc. It seemed as everybody tolerated one another when I used to be in North Texas. Great area from what I recall!

So you're claiming Dallas is more gay than cities like San Francisco, Chicago, & Seattle?
Even Phoenix, Houston, & San Diego all have a larger gay population than Dallas.
Here are the real numbers.
Largest Gay & Lesbian populations in US by city:
1 New York City 6% 272,493
2 Los Angeles 5.6% 154,270
3 Chicago 5.7% 114,449
4 San Francisco 15.4% 94,234
5 Phoenix 6.4% 63,222
6 Houston 4.4% 61,976
7 San Diego 6.8% 61,945
8 Dallas 7.0% 58,473
9 Seattle 12.9% 57,993
10 Boston 12.3% 50,540
11 Philadelphia 4.2% 43,320
12 Atlanta 12.8% 39,085
13 San Jose 5.8% 37,260

These numbers don't make sense. First of all, how could anyone ever come up with a true count of the gay population of any major city? It's not possible. Estimates are the best that can be achieved and these don't add up. For example, your list states that NYC has a gay population equal to 272,493 which translates into 6% of the population. Doing the math, that means that the population of NYC is 4,541,550. WRONG. The population of NYC is over 8 million. Same thing for Houston -- if 61,976 equals 4.4% of the population, then there are only 1,408,545 people living in Houston. That's not right. Ditto for Dallas. Based on 58,473 people equalling 7% of the population, that makes the population 835,328. It's more like 1.25 million. This list is completely bogus. I do agree with you that Dallas is most likely not #3 in gay population. Chicago & SFO have got to be ahead of Dallas in that respect. As for the others, who really knows?

Also being gay is not the antithesis of being conservative. The gay and lesbian community is no different than that of the general population. There are gays who are bleeding heart liberals and gays who are far right conservatives.

Dallas is leaning liberal.
in 2008, about 58% voters in Dallas voted for Obama, this is not muc behind Austin, TX, supposedly famous for liberals.
Among large cities in Texas, Dallas is as liberal as they gets, San Antonio and Houston are both quite conservative. Its a big surprising consider so many hispanics in San Antonio, Guess chicanoes think they are no mexicans. LOL
The north Dallas is more conservative, especially Plano is highly ranked conservative city. Farmers' Branck passed whatever local law outlawing "illegal", with a bunch of strange and bordering illegal city rules.
South of I30 is especially liberal, partially because its demographic make up. Former mayor of Dallas lives there, Laura Miller.
Downtown is a wash. Maybe more liberal just because its business and arts district, people don't always in the political attacking mode.

yeah, like Ted A. Haggard, or Larry E. Craig.
I agree its not wise to paint the whole community with one brush, buts it should be acknowledged that vast majority of LGBT people are leaning to the liberal side.

Actually, Laura Miller lives well north of I-30 as can be found here:
SHOPPING Blog | The Dallas Morning News
And it's not fair to say the likes of Larry Craig represent gay conservatives since he doesn't identify as gay. There are open gay conservatives, though.

Dallas only votes Democratic (barely) because it a has a large minority population.
Minorites are not "liberal" in general. The "conservative-liberal" dynamic is not driving their vote. ( Black voting was the prime reason pro gay legislation in California was defeated last year.)
If you are white you will likely find your fellow whites very Conservative.
The paper here endorsed Bush both times, the three popular AM talk radio stations bash liberals 24/7. The Dallas business community is the main power group in the city and they are Conservative.
Additionally the home town University SMU is run by GOP backers and is very proud of itself for having landed the George Bush Library/Conservative Think Tank.

True but look how poorly it does in ratings compared to WBAP, KRLD, and KSKY.

I think it's so stupid why there is so much hatred when it comes to politics.(Not Dallas necessarily but in general) I think it shows GREAT INSECURITY. Go to school learn a skill so that you can work for yourself so you won't have to rely on anyone, elected official or not.
