Grapevine Vs Southlake Airplane Noise
Hi,
Ive settled on a house in Southlake. I'm taking another place that will go on my company's bill for an office.
Does southlake get less airplane noise or grapevine?
cheers

Sure it's less. But having lived in Grapevine close to the airport, it was not much a an issue there either. I've never heard anyone complain about the noise when I lived there.

It honestly depends on what part of Southlake and what part of Grapevine, and what direction the wind is blowing. We're both so close to the airport that the planes are usually on their final approach when they are overhead, and the normal flight pattern is for them to land from the north and take off to the south. The part of Southlake along 114 (mostly commercial, like by the Wal-Mart) gets a LOT of noise. Downtown Grapevine hardly ever gets noise since it sits in between the two main runways and there is no reason for a plane to come overhead. Now, when the winds change and the planes take off to the north, both cities get a lot of noise...

agree with ChristieP--some parts of Southlake have more noise than Grapevine
if you visited either house during the day and were there for 30 min or more you would have heard noises if it were going to happen probably--the Town Square in Southlake gets lot of noise and it is just south of 114--the Kirkwood Hollow development north of 114 gets lots of noise based on what we heard when home shopping
some times are less busy than others and the wind makes a difference for the approach obviously

Good advice here. All you need to do is just stand outside the residence for a bit and you'll know if you are in the flight path.
I think most of the area is well designed and for most homes in both cities this is not an issue.
