Quite true. McKinney and Cole around Knox were kinda ghetto. State Thomas was ghetto too - most of the original homes have been replaced by new multi-story buildings.

That's just bizarre to say "the right amount of crime"... would you change your tune if you were a crime victim? Not that it would matter if you get murdered.

good neighborhood character = "some crime", I will have to make a note of that

One time on the Red Line I saw someone had written "crime" on the map next to the last few stations on the south end. They should have written "character".

I think he meant it would keep people like you out. Invariably when I meet someone from North Oak Cliff they are pretty cool - same goes for some of the folks in other parts, who are unaffected by or disdainful of the Frisco faux mentality.

And it shows the challenge Terrilli's, et al will have trying to rebuild after the fire this morning.

And please note in this article, Oak Cliff's biggest fear is that it will be discovered by people from Highland Park, SMU, Allen, etc. That's a fear.

Tip from a native: Anyone who refers to Oak Cliff as "the OC" doesn't know **** about Oak Cliff and is probably some dumbass hipster looking to gentrify Oak Cliff by driving out the black and brown people.

I live in South Oak Cliff by the major intersection Kiest Blvd and Marsalis Ave, that is very close to South Oak Cliff high school.

ladarron,

You are living darn close to the shooting fiasco that just happened at Frio and Ann Arbor (OK...a block or two away). I drive by there every day and now it's sad to see life continue on and kids playing around a small pool of blood where the delivery boy's lay after his murder. Poor soul was attempting to deliver a stack of papers. I know there a good people around there, but those gangsters give OC a bad name! I would feel scared living in SOC for that very reason.

It's the most beautiful part of town, I have many fond memories of visiting grandparents and aunts there. Just don't wander out of the good clusters or sections and you'll be fine.
