Hello all,

First post. Woot and stuff.

So, I am a lesbian in a relationship and just moved to Flower Mound from Phoenix, AZ. I was wondering if there was a LBGT scene here or close by.

Any thoughts would be welcome,
cjae

No idea about the "scene", but I am sure you will enjoy Flower Mound, it's a great little city.

In Flower Mound??? Someone else correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there is a LBGT scene anywhere really close to Flower Mound. The closest thing I can think of would be Denton....or Dallas.

Probably Denton.

Flower Mound doesn't have much a scene at all, unless you count moms and kids.

Not gonna lie--it's full of extremely conservative families. Not everyone, but enough.

I read the other day where Houston elected a lesbian as their new mayor, but you're saying that probably won't happen in Flower Mound ?
BTW, where did they come up with that wierd name ?

At Flower Mound Rd & 2499 by the Tom Thumb there is a large Indian Burial Mound that has an iron fence around it and a State of TX historical marker. That Indian Burial Mound will be covered with wild TX flowers every spring including Blue Bonnets & Indian Paint Brush.

Thus the name Flower Mound. It is a very pretty name.

Back to OP, you'll probably need to make visits to Dallas and the Cedar Springs area.

Very interesting.
I figured it was fabricated from whole cloth by some New York City PR guy hired to come up with a unique, unusual name for a new DFW suburb that people would think clever or maybe remember ? I'll have to tell my wife who's a native Texan and interested in the state history. But it's interesting to know the real history behind the name. Thanks ! Now, do you know the story behind Planos name ?

The name Plano was derived from the spanish word which means flat(describes the terrain of the city).

Better yet, didn't I read where Collin McKinney was the oldest man to sign the TX Constitution ?

Thus 2 great local names. Collin County and the city of McKinney.
