I'm planning a "scouting" trip to Dallas soon and I need a good realtor that listens. I have talked with two recently and expressed my desire to rent/lease first but they both are trying to convince me that I will be ready to buy within a week. I would like to hear from anyone who has rented first before purchasing a home. Are there realtors that help with renting or are you on your own in that regard? I welcome any comments or suggestions. Moving to another state seems a bit overwhelming at times. I appreciate the encouragement I get from this site. I'm currently in Riverside County, SoCal, Temecula area. I guess a referral will have to be sent via private message. Thanks to anyone for taking the time to do so

Grateful,

I've got the guy for you. He's stuck with me for almost a year and has driven me everywhere from Highland Park to Melissa looking at homes. Never once demanded anything and told me that "when your ready, I'm here for you".

He was the one that originally told me to rent before buying.

PM coming with contact info...

I want to follow up with what Socketz said. He recommended his agent to me and he is just an overall great guy. I went on one scouting trip with him and will do another in a few weeks. He knows I cannot buy right now but he has no problems showing me around and spending time with me.

If you are going to use him I would suggest calling him soon, he does get a lot of referrals.

Good Luck

Home buying is very personal, so I'm of the mind that you need to really like your Realtor as a person as well. This is where my guy shines. And if he doesn't know an area, he'll tell you.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a realtor who genuinely cares about his clients and not just making the sale. What a relief...thank you!
