Hey I am so glad that my plans are looking good for Houston Spring Break (so far..lol) I am gonna stay with my friend from high school who moved to dallas and loved it. But I'm looking for a nice hotel that won't kill my pockets like 200 or less a week, if that's even possible. Anyway's I am gonna touchdown in Cowboyland on april 3 , just in time for easter. What festivities are bumping around that time? Does Dallas celebrate easter with the dressing up and ish? I'm from Harlem, so if you go to church it's really a club for who's the hottest dressed. Where can I find out about the clubs and night activities for that weekend. I am hoping to enjoy Dallas. I have no kids or felonies...lmao. Under 30 and I'm done with NYC. Bloomberg is bananas but that's another forum. I'm just wanting any advice on how to maxumize the fun factor in dallas. Ask me anything to help me out. Thanx in advance.

Most people do dress up for Easter Services here regardless of denomination. I would say it's more old school Sundays best than club style attire. IMO club attire usually equates to hoochie mama stuff, nothing that one would wear in church I hope. You will see women festooned with beautiful hats, facny high heels, etc. Men every color of suit from pastels, to brights, to traditional, wingtips or some other similar style of dress shoe.

Most of the clubs are concentrated in Deep Ellum or lower Greenville, but others are scattered about.

Do you know where in Dallas you will be staying? Is there a specific type of church you are looking for? What type of music/club are you seeking. There is everything from seedy dives and honky tonks, to high end lounges.

I am into Jazz, Upscale Enviroments where I can where a nice suit to a lounge or club and still enjoy myself. I do like house/techno music but in NYC, a black dude in them enviroment get looked at oddly (as if they've never heard of carl cox) and of course hip hop (violence free of course) Not to sound carnal but as a SBM, anyplace that is nice and where women will be accepting to my kind...lol sorry, I'm coming from the east coast and you'd be amazed at what television has made texas out to look like. I do have an open mind, I'm just trying to get some 2 cents from everybody. Thanx again.

If you like Jazz, you should definitely check out Sambuca. It's a nice restaurant and lounge with live music. There are a few hip hop clubs around, but sadly a couple of them attract an unsavory element. Club DMX is the most notable hip hop club, but definitely not violence free. Techno never really caught on here there are some really small hole in the wall gotta be in the know kinda joints.

I would not say Dallas is everything like you have seen on TV, though there is a grain of truth to it. People here are very different. The city itself is very sprawly, suburban, and not pedestrian friendly compared to most places back east. Dallas and its surrounding areas are pretty diverse and accepting.

Easter in the Park is excellent! Wide variety of folks...

You might also try Brooklyn Cafe and Terilli's for Jazz and maybe Lakewood Theater Balcony Club (depends who is playing).
