I am relocating to the Dallas area. I will be working downtown, and I am wondering what area would be the best for me to live in. I am in my late 20's and have a dog (so I will need a small yard) and I have a horse that will be coming with me as well. I am looking for an area not too far from work, but what might be close to boarding stables. Arlington & Grapevine have been suggested to me. Any thoughts? Is Fort Worth too far of a commute? Thank you for your help!

Not sure what your budget is, but there are some properties in the Casa Linda/Casa View area that allow horses w/in the city. Zips are 75218, 75228.

Otherwise, there is White Rock Stable and Rush Creek Stable - both located in the city. You'll have to inquire if there is availablity.

Yes, Fort Worth is way too far of a commute unless you want to ride the TRE train every day.

What kind of stable are you looking for? Hunter/Jumper? Dressgae? Cutting? If you're wanting one that offers turnout/pasture, you are going to have a difficult time unless you look on the fringes of DFW. Most of the more central ones have very little pasture and will have a lengthy waiting list. I would suggest looking in the Sunnyvale and Mesquite areas. These places are a decent commute to downtown, and have several large boarding stables where you could live close by. Depending on your price range, you might even be able to find a small farmhouse in Sunnyvale that has an acre or two.
