My hubby and I went to Swan Court recently for a special dinner, and I have to say this is NOT a good first anniversary spot.
It is an ideal spot for a 60th anniversary, however.

Maybe my husband and I were always "old at heart!"
Another thought I had was Jasper's in The Shops at Legacy in Plano. Contemporary upscale.

My husband is old at heart also. He is always talking about how he can't wait to grow a beard like Gandolf's (lord of the rings).
I've been meaning to try Jasper's! I just never seem to make it out there, so many restaurants in between
I thought the food at Swan Court was OK, but it definitely has an old crowd and atmosphere. There were about 10 retirees in the bar area that appeared to be regulars who were totally schnockered and dancing to the music of the piano/synthesizer. They were having a blast and getting quite rowdy towards the end, I must say! We went to dinner around 7:30 on a weeknight.
P.S. Don't get the lobster bisque.

Swan Court
It's been several years since we've been there. We really didn't do the bar scene there. Dinner was quiet and elegant. Don't remember what we had except that we both had some type of beef and it was really excellent. But again, that's probably been four years ago and things can change.

We were seated overlooking the bar... the restaurant part was indeed very quiet, if the bar wasn't there.
Anyway, my 5 year anniversary is coming up this year...So keep the suggestions coming everybody!
Does anybody have a suggestion for a nice romantic place in uptown?

Yes...all good suggestions Lola's, St.Martin's (I know the pianist and he can do requests), French Room (I can't think of her name but there is a black female server who is great), Angelo's, Il Sole and Bodega Bar (you might also go to Papou's and Times Ten in Lakewood), and the Mansion of course (but it's undergoing a renovation see today's paper). Also the Grape on Lower Greenville is great, Terilli's across the street and York Street (you could then go across the street to The Wine Therapist). I also like Al Biernat's as I have posted here before. Cafe Pacific is also nice. Adelmo's is another quaint little place. You could even do Campisi's and request the back room.

I read about a gondola company out in Las Colinas. I have never been, but it might be worth looking into.

York Street is also wonderful, and in the same style as Lola. Also Suze (sooz) is a great place, too.
Have fun!

Damn! I used to really like that place.
