Yes, Lake Whitney would make you happy, I believe. It's about 75 miles from Dallas and worth the drive. People from the metroplex come to the lake in droves.

Beaver's Bend is a great place. I'm from that area and it's full of mountain lakes and rivers. Closer to home though one might try Possum Kingdom west of Fort Worth, there are lots of cliffs to dive off in Possum Kingdom; it's a bit of a drive from Dallas though.

As for those lakes your best bet would be if someone has a pier tall enough over deep enough water or off of a boat. As for 20' cliffs on those lakes, no such thing.

There are nice cliffs at Lake Texoma, but unfortunately there are rocks at the bottom.

People used to jump off the bridge (by the dam) at Lake Dallas (now some call it Lake Lewisville ) but I imagine that is no longer allowed!

True. And don't jump off of the railroad trestles either. A lady died doing that last year into Lake Ray Hubbard.

All but one or two lakes in Texas were created by damming up drainage in a low area. They are typically shallow, full of trees and offer very few shorelines good for diving. For your own safety I suggest you look elsewhere for driving.

There is a cliff along the Guadalupe River where people used to jump (I saw very few dive) - is that still allowed since they cracked down on the partiers?

Hmmmmm.... my mom always said... "If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?"

Quite a few people have died jumping of that trestle on Ray Hubbard. Definitely not a smart thing to do.
