Hi,

I am moving to Dallas/Richardson soon. For a short period, I plan to stay in an apartment on Prestonwood Blvd, near Beltline and Dallas North Tollway. (zip code: 75248)

Do you generally recommend that area? I am married and we have a baby. It looks like there are other commercial buildings around the apartment, though it is also next to Prestonwood Country Club. I have been to Addison and Richardson earlier, but never been to this specific location.

Second, as I was looking at the area from Google Maps, I saw a very large mall on Montfort Rd. Can you give me more information about that? What is it called? As far as I could found, there is a Walmart there.

thanks,

The strip mall has a Super Walmart, Barnes and Noble, DSW shoestore, PetsMart, Circuit City, Office Max, and other places. It's all brand new. Some of it is still under construction.

Another large mall off Monfort is Valley View. Anchor stores Dillards, Sears, J.C. Penney, Macy's.

Galleria is near their as well.

I work in the century bank office tower at Beltline and Montfort. The area is fine for a short stay and is convenient with all the stores you need right there. That Wal-Mart is new and very nice (clean and well stocked, with a grocery store inside in addition to the normal wal-mart stuff). Lots of restaurants and convenient with the tollway right there.

If you've been to Addison before, then where you'll be staying short term is very near there. Beltline Road runs east-west through Addison and once it crosses the Dallas North Tollway, the south side of Beltline is still Addison (until you get past Winnwood), but the north side is Dallas. If you keep going east on Beltline a few lights after the Tollway, Prestonwood Boulevard will be on the left (north) side of the street.

The "mall" you are asking about is a bunch of separate stores, restaurants and banks joined by a huge parking lot. It is on the site of the former Prestonwood Mall, demolished when newer malls in Plano and Frisco were built.
