Otherwise, go to a real, true world class city. I know I did.

There are plenty creative, worldly, well-read and unconventional people living in Dallas now.

OO seems to be too overcooked..........

I realize OO had a bad experience for the small amount of time they lived here and they seem to resent they just couldn't hack it here and carrying around a lot of resentment.

But to say that Dallas is full of people that are NOT well-read, creative, worldly, etc........ they don't KNOW Dallas.

No, they flee to Austin. Maybe even Houston (which seems to embrace their quirky side a lot better than Dallas does).

I know the truth hurts...

1) I didn't say that none of those types existed here. It just doesn't cater to those types like a true world class city does. There is a difference between the two. Dallas has a reputation for being business-oriented. Nothing wrong with that at all. But I'm not going to have a few folks try to dismiss me because of some anecdotal, random evidence, so right back at you.

2) I hacked it here just fine, thank you very much. I came to a point where I felt I outgrew Dallas and decided to go somewhere that made me happier. Also, as a black woman, I felt that continuing to live in Texas was a danger to my life and my future considering all what is going on in the world right now. I just happen to come with a different perspective than most of the delusional homers on here. Sorry to rain on your parades and dare to speak the truth. Lucky for me, I don't need your approval on that. But thank you for your 1/2 cent, armchair psychiatrist assesment anyhow

3) I see that no one could really dispute my other assesments about Dallas, because deep down in your hearts, you know that I'm right (which I usually am). Like the blood pressure of my father who won't stop eating pork, still I rise.

Now I must leave and bask in the awesomeness that is me, and admire what a Beautiful, Intelligent, Talented, Charming, Hilarious Diva that I am. Ta ta for now!

^I don't think Shanghai, a true "World Class City," caters to those who are quirky or artsy either. And neither does Singapore. Or Beijing. Or Moscow. Or Frankfurt. St. Petersburg and London do certainly, but catering to those with artistic talents or who are "indy" and "quirky" does not define a world class city in any way shape or form. But regardless, I'll agree with you that Dallas isn't world class yet.

You remind me of that Cupcake poster.
So you won't accept anecdotal, random evidence...and yet, you've brought no evidence at all. Really, you've done a great job of describing Dallas in 1965, but not 2010.

I didn't say that I didn't accept anecdotal evidence, I'm just saying that we can all come up with our own anecdotes and stories that dispute and contradict each other, and what will we accomplish? Nothing but more arguing. We're all right, we're all wrong, so what?

Well, I have to agree with you there! Maybe because I was raised here, and then lived in other places, I can see how different Dallas is from how it used to be.

This thread completly lost it's credibility when early on the second page somebody (who shall remain nameless) actually said with a straight face that Milan, Italy is VERY DALLAS LIKE?!?!?!?! Wow....just wow.

I haven't been back to this thread since, but I have been needing to get that off my chest.

What does that have to do with anything? Sounds like you're still living in the 1960's.

Join the Army or something. I'm sure it would do you a lot of good.

I think were back to square one with personal attacks.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Dallas has elements of a world class city and has the potential to be a world class city, but as I think of them, it is not one right now. The same goes for Houston, Atlanta, Philly, Seattle, and San Diego. All have certain pieces of the puzzle, none have the whole puzzle.
