I'm trying to decide which provider to go with. I looked at the rating scorecard for the past few months and came up with a list. Anyone have any input? The providers I chose are all 2004 or earlier for length of business.

Reliant Energy had lowest complaints out of the list. They are indexed, though, for the rate...Not sure if that is something to be concerned about...

The others were 2nd to lowest complaints and issues. They are all fixed rates and 6-12 term:
Green Mountain (10.7 cents)
Champion Energy (9.2)
Tara Energy (9.8)
Cirro (9.3)
Gexa (9.9)
Gateway (10.6)

Thank you for your help!

whomever you choose, do not pick one you have to sign a contract with.

I have Green Mountain and a variable rate and am happy except for one month I felt like my bill was out of the wazoo, but I calmed down when the very next month my bill was ridiculously low.

From your list it looks like Champion is the lowest. Go with that and sign up for a fixed rate. I have had Champion and Gexa and haven't had any issues.

I've got Gexa and have had zero problems. I sign a contract with them to get a lower rate - I don't see a problem with a contract if you own the home and plan on being there a while.

Thanks.

I signed up with Gexa as that was the lowest rate (the rates I have aren't right).

I've had Gexa for 2.5 years. No trouble with them at all.

I'm glad I read this. We are moving into another house and it has a pool, so I'm looking for the lowest rates We have Reliant now and while I've had no problems, they won't come down to meet the other companies rates. I don't get that but there ya go....I'm switching!

Thanks for the info and input!

My rates are not right. When I looked at the scorecard from Oct to (I think) Dec., I didn't realize the rates would have changed by now. So when it came time to sign up the other day, I noticed they were all different.

So, what I did was take the results from the scorecard (who had the lowest complaints and issues) and then just looked up each company that was available for my area and what rate they had along with how many terms for a contract.

Hope that helps!
