What is the fashion industry like in Dallas? Is there a good size market for it?

What aspect of the industry are you asking about- from the viewpoint of a supplier/wholesaler who wants to open a showroom at the market or reps a private label to sell to JCPenney/ Fossil/ etc? As a retail or fashion exec who wants to/ needs to move to Dallas and is seeking employment? As a businessperson who is interested in opening a boutique? Or as a fashionista looking for fellow fashion lovers to befriend? The answer depends on your niche.

Most of the design jobs in Dallas are going to be in a private label capacity. If you have design experience (both from your education & work/ intern experience), companies like Haggar, Fossil, & JCPenney are based in the Dallas area. Several more, like Harold's, have gone out of business in the past ten years or so.

There are a few Dallas-based designers (Michael Faircloth, Abi Ferrin, etc), but they run extremely small staffs.

There are lots more opportunities in LA and NYC than Dallas on the design end.
