Actually. The both say the same thing. It's just that NTCOG base their figures on the last day of the year and census uses July 1.

Dallas has over 1.3 million people. I'm sorry, but your Fort Worth has a ways to go if it wants to beat that, an by the time Fort Worth gets there, Dallas will be pushing 2 million.

They are enclaves. Like Beverly Hills and West Hollywood is to Los Angeles. Suburb means outside of an urban area, and Highland Park, University Park, and Cockrell hill are inside the Dallas city limits.

Yep. According to the new estimates. Dallas grew faster than Fort Worth from 7/1/08 to 7/1/09 and Dallas has been picking up residents at a faster rate for the past few years.

Well I been saying this for years even on other boards. I don't see Fort Worth ever passing Dallas in population. Dallas is on the cusp of exploding itself and it can sustain it better because it has better infrastructure. Most of FW's growth this decade has been pure suburban which goes hand and hand with most actual suburban areas throughout the nation and especially the South and West. Dallas on the other hand is mostly urban growth with a bulk coming in and around downtown and uptown.

I don't WANT Fort Worth to surpass Dallas in population. It's plenty big already. Dallas is welcome to get even more impossible to drive in if it likes. Bigger isn't always better.

I agree completely. I don't want FTW to become like Dallas and I hope Fort Worthians feel the same way.
