I recently received a job teaching in Carlisle, south of Dayton. I am currently trying to find an apartment that is within a half hour of Carlisle but that is also in an area where there is something to do (malls, restaurants, clubs, public transit). I was looking at West Carrollton, Centerville, or Miamisburg. What would you suggest for a 22 year old, and if you know of any specific apartment complexes that are nice what are they?

Miamisburg is your best bet hands down. It has plenty of apartments (see apartmentguide.com) with decent rents in a safe suburb. It's back roads probably offer the quickest route to Carlisle. I-75 is right next door putting downtown Dayton just north and Cincy a little ways south, and the Dayton Mall is just beyond the highway.

Other possibilities are Centerville and Springboro. While these are well regarded suburbs, the rents are generally higher and the commute will be longer due to more traffic and longer distances. West Carrolton is the cheapest one here, but its city is kinda run down. The place is safe, don't get me wrong. It's just that Miamisburg is nicer and closer.
