I've been out to visit/house hunt and need all the inside info I can get between these places. We have 3 young children so activities for them are important. We already know the schools are great (Troy- Miami East SD I think..). I'm a little concerned about Versailles being a bit out there, but we did find a nice property there. We would like a little bit of property/privacy 1 acre or so and prefer not to be in a neighborhood. But I also don't want to be too isolated from activities, basic shopping, restaraunts etc. Thanks for any help!

I'd be wary of Versailles for the exact reason you give, that it is too far from most things. There are a number of properties in the two other districts you mentioned and some good surrounding ones that offer acreage and privacy. Depending on where you are working, you should choose the place that is closer to your workplace. If that workplace is Dayton, Troy and Tipp City make more sense.

Most of Versailles shopping is probably done in larger, nearby cities like Sidney, Piqua, and Greenville. With Troy and Tipp City, most shopping would probably be done in-town. Worst case, you would travel to Butler Township/Vandalia or Huber Heights for some stores.

I'd consider Vandalia, Tipp or Troy to be good places to live. Versailles is too far out there for me. Personally, I like the vibe of Tipp. I take it you are not concerned about commute times?
