Hi all I recently accepted a position in Dayton and will be commuting for a short period of time from East Columbus. We are actually looking for a home in Springfield, OH. I was wondering if the commute from Springfield to Dayton is doable and if Springfield is a decent place to live. It seems affordable and halfway between Dayton and Columb us. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The commute is doable. Most of Springfield is a crap hole. Damn near anywhere is a better place to live.

I'd agree. Though some of the townships around Springfield can be ok. To the OP, I'd look into Enon, which is southwest of Springfield and south of I-70.

The quality of life in Springfield is terrible. I'd suggest looking at moving closer to the city.

My advise to you is NOT to live in Springfield or any part of Clark County it is a POOR county Limited law enforcement, high property taxes and very few governmental services for the high taxation and most of Clark County is a crap hole

I have friends that live in Springfield and work in Cbus, but their hope is to sell their house and move to Cbus to eliminate the commute.

Springfield is a great choice for commuting but I would wonder why do you even want to be close to Dayton if not IN Dayton? Springfield has nice areas but it also has very poor choice locations. Be very careful. Drive through an area at night, maybe a fri or sat night. See what you see during the night hours. Otherwise, from my perch in Dayton, I would definately consider Springfield.

The north side of Springfield isn't bad, but it would also be probably at least 30-40 minute commute depending on where your job is. I second looking into Enon.
