Just a minor correction to lyrasstar's post:
The
National Museum of the United States Air Force (official title) is adjacent to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Riverside on the Northeast side of Dayton.
The
Vectren Dayton Air Show is held each July at the Dayton International Airport in Vandalia on the Northwest side of Dayton. And, be sure to check the schedule each year. We don't always get the Blue Angels. Usually it's either the Blue Angels OR the Thunderbirds. For the 100th Anniversary of Flight we had both teams, along with the Canadian Snowbirds. What a combination! This year (2007) in addition to the Thunderbirds, the Brazilian Air Force Smoke Squadron will perform. Always something new . . .
Just didn't want anyone to head off to the Base in search of the Air Show
Also, don't miss
Carillon Historical Park just south of downtown. It houses the 1905 Wright Flyer III, the only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark.
