There is another top school district near Kettering that people haven't mentioned yet: Sugarcreek schools (Bellbrook and Sugarcreek township). Bellbrook is east of Centerville and south of Beavercreek and kind of blends into those two larger towns.

Oakwood, Centerville (including Washington township), Beavercreek, Bellbrook/Sugarcreek and Springboro all offer top notch schools and are nice burbs near Kettering. Centerville and Beavercreek are larger school districts with 7000-8000 students total, Oakwood and Sugarcreek are smaller with 2000-2500 total students. Springboro is sort of in the middle with around 5000 students.

Default Best Places to Live Near Dayton

I've lived in Schaumburg, IL; Cincinnati, OH; and Barbourville, KY--let me assure you Beavercreek is one of the nicest places I've ever lived. It is family friendly, and located nearby natural resources (Yellow Springs, Narrows, and Bike/walking trails), shopping (The Greene, Fairfield Commons) and museums (AF, Dayton Art, Boonshoft, Peace, Carrillon). It is centrally located with St Rt 35 and I-675. My children love Beavercreek Schools and I'm very impressed with the faculty. The only other places I would recommend nearby would be Springboro, parts of Kettering, Oakwood, parts of Centerville and West Chester.

The schools are excellent, there's plenty of upscale shopping (nicer than Dayton Mall area IMHO), and wonderful activities within the city and Greene County parks and rec. There's a reason why Beavercreek was ranked 84th in the list of 100 best cities to live in pop.>50000) by Money Magazine. For comparisons, Mason was ranked 81st. No offense to them, but Centerville or Oakwood didn't make the list (but probably could).

Nothing annoys me more than an ignorant poster. Please think before you click.

Vandalia-Butler schools are really good. This district is about twenty minutes north of Kettering and just outside of Dayton. Growing community and rated "excellent" every year by the Ohio Department of Education. Nice community with alot of new stores and restaurants. Kettering is nice but the traffic can be bad sometimes. Centerville is also like this. Kettering and Oakwood and Centerville are all the richer southern suburbs of Dayton. Vandalia, Butler Township, Tipp City, and Brookville are the richer northern suburbs. If you want less traffic and a quieter atmosphere with great schools try Vandalia or Butler Township! It would be an honor if you moved to great beautiful community! Good luck and I hope you find the United States of America a warm and welcoming country where success and happiness is plentyful!
