My husband is looking at a job in Covington, OH, so we are looking at places we would like to live. He is fine with a 30-40 minute drive. We have never been to this area and have no idea where to start looking! We do have 2 kids who are 4 and 5 so schools are important as is low crime rate. Any help or suggestions would be greatly apperciated!

North of Dayton, I'd look at Tipp City, Vandalia and Troy. They are nice bedroom communities with good schools. Others who are more familiar with the area can provide more specifics.

All three would be good fits. There are also plenty of small farming villages around Covington, some of which also have really good (but really small) schools. If you don't mind suburb, Vandalia and Tipp would be good choices. Small town (some may argue exurb) is what Troy is.

Just be aware that it tends to snow more up north of I-70. Also, since it is so flat, the roads can get snow drifts easily and be recovered quickly. Just factor that into your commute times.

Excellent advice, JoefromDayton & Whrightflyer! I'd start with Troy, Tipp City & Vandalia; all are good choices, IMHO. (I'm partial to Tipp City, I must confess)

Thank you for the suggestions! My husband stayed at a hotel in Troy when he came down for his in person interview We are moving from Michigan so snow drifting is nothing strange for us! Thanks again!

I love Troy, it's a nice town. It has a great feel downtown. I know no community is perfect, but Troy just feels homey to me.
